Barcelona Activa applies the blockchain technology to avoid the falsification of certificates


Barcelona Activa is a public entity in Catalonia, Spain, that applies blockchain technology to validate digital competencies, thus avoiding falsification of degrees, certificates or merits. This was reported by the newspaper Siglo XXI.

According to an article in that newspaper, the objective is to guarantee the security and transparency of training programs. In this way, it seeks to ratify before the companies the validity and veracity of the professional profiles that have been formed in the institution.

On the other hand, they indicated that the initiative has been promoted with the Barcelona startup Vottun and responds to some objectives set out by Barcelona Activa: „To boost entrepreneurial and innovative ecosystems, promote startups that work with emerging technologies and strengthen public-private collaboration mechanisms“.

„The project has been applied, at first, to the specialized programs of the IT Academy of the Cibernàrium, which offers advanced training in ICT oriented to the creation of digital talent in a context in which, according to a report of Barcelona Digital Talent, has increased in 80% the demand of digital professionals while the available offer is 23%“, detailed the publication.
